Attention Massachusetts residents: Beware of who you let onto your property to install remote monitoring security systems. These are the all-in-one type of security systems that allow you to control your property from a smart phone or device. These installations are categorized as “Life Safety” systems. According to Massachusetts State Laws, this means the installers “are required to be licensed by the State Board of Electrical Examiners and also to have a Public Safety license, mandating criminal background checks on all security system employees by the Department of Public Safety.”
Some national telecommunications companies are currently operating without the proper licenses in Massachusetts, in direct violation of the state Consumer Protection and Public Safety laws. Ask everyone who offers you a security system to see their license. Protect your home and family by contracting with only licensed professionals. Your life and safety may depend on it.
